M & L Fabrics Anaheim California

Hello.....everyone.   Back to work after a great mothers day.   I started off my day with a walk with my favorite girl Gina. You will see Gina in my Buttons post.   After quickly getting dressed I headed to Fontana to pick up my mom (the matriarch) so we could head out to Euro Cafe  (Address: 546 East Baseline Road, Claremont Cali, 909-621-4666). Ya know, we had to have mothers day breakfast before we went fabric shopping.  The owners of this restaurant are Portuguese.  I have to take pause and rate this restaurantMy rateing.....Great! Dont Miss it! The owners dad was working that day.   What A nice man.  He saw my mother and greeted her so warmly.   Yikes!  I think he was very taken by her.  Mom could have had any hook up if she wanted it.  Oh, back to the food.   Mom had crapes, I had the Linquesa Panini, Michael had....fruit. Check Euro Cafe out, you won't be sorry.

Anyway, back to M & L Fabrics (located: 3430 West Ball Road, Anaheim Ca. 92801 714-995-3178)    M &  L advertises as a "Discount" fabric store.   OK cool!  But there are a few things you should know to help you get those discounts:. When you first walk in the door and start checking the bolts for $$$ you can't help but think..... this isn't discount!    After you get over sticker shock, keep walking to the back of the store.  Look for the two small door ways.  Peak inside.  Don't be afraid.   You will find two back rooms loaded with fabric.  All kinds of fabric.   Home Decor, formal type fabric, double knits, you name it for...... CHEAP!     Once you have experienced the "Back Room" check out the flat folds.   If you are a quilter this is fabric heaven, especially at $ 1.98 per yard.    While visiting M & L  enjoy the thrill of the hunt seamster.   Compared to LA garment district, it is a much slower pace.

You will love this store I guarantee it. You will love me even more for turning you on to the adventure.

A Memory

This photograph brings many pleasant memories of the days I spent learning how to sew.   I was a tender age of 13 or 14 years in this photo.  My mother made this dress for me.  If you look closely at the sleeves you will see the strands of pearls she placed between each puff of the sleeve.  The fabric was a black stain brocade.   I do recall this pictures place in time, before Viet Nam ended.   It wasn't but a few years after this photo that I headed to Northern California to begin my adventures as a hippie.   What fun, my boyfriend and I had.  I can't tell you how many articles I sewed for myself as well as many of the friends we lived with.
